Oniste in Miami--July 2013

We arrived in Miami several hours ago. While we were going through US Immigration the official saw Oniste’s picture in her passport from three years ago. She appeared as a beautiful young Haitian woman without any cosmetic defect. He stared at her across the counter and politely asked me why she let the tumor go so long. I told him that Oniste has no access to care in Haiti for something as serious as this. He shook his head. Like most of us, he just does not understand the plight of poor Haitians.

Oniste is one tough and determined lady. She is holding up well on this trip.

If all goes as planned we arrive in Denver tonight at 11 PM.
