Mike (Thoughts on Haiti)--October 2015

Five-year-old Mike looked really good. He had just survived big heart surgery. All of his vitals were stable and he was alert.  I couldn’t have been happier. And his father in Haiti was even happier.

A few minutes later I was called back to his room by his frantic nurse who said that Mike suddenly quit breathing. 

After putting things together I thought he had been overdosed with pain killer. And three others at his bedside arrived at the same conclusion. 

But why?
