Oberti Accepted for Heart Surgery!--March 2015

Oberti and Grandma--March 2014 (Photo by John Carroll)

I first examined Oberti one year ago this month. He lives way out in the sticks in Southern Haiti and was brought to Port-au-Prince by his father and grandmother. (I am not sure where his mother is.) They are extremely poor even by Haitian metrics.

Oberti was born with four things wrong with his heart. His congenital heart problem is called Tetralogy of Fallot. He can’t play normally due to his condition because he tires quickly. And without surgery, his chances of making it through his teenage years are not good.

Thanks to Haiti Cardiac Alliance Oberti will be having his surgery very soon.
