Moral Zombies--June 2021

Frank Bruni, a columnist for the New York Times, published his last editorial today. It is an interesting read. 

In the article, he laments that he didn't write better for many reasons. 

Here is a paragraph that I like--

“I don’t miss the stodginess that defined a lot of news writing when I got into the business three and a half decades ago. It reflected an unnatural emotional remove and an insistence on even-handedness that produced a kind of moral zombie-ism.”

"Moral zombie-ism". It is not gone. The age we live in, in my opinion. 

Unnatural emotional distance. 

We are still zombies, Frank.
