The Haitian Cross--April 2018

When Jesus suffered and died on the cross for our sins, He had a gash in his side.

This 14-year-old Haitian girl walks to clinic every day to have her breast abscess cavity cleaned and packed with gauze. She receives no pain medication and her cries can be heard by many.

Is she suffering on her cross for OUR sins as did Jesus?

“Father, into your hands I commend my spirit!”

Is this cancer? What would the prescribed treatment be? Prognosis?

This is an abscess cavity. The abscess was drained and now the wound needs to be kept clean and it will repair itself (granulate) over time. Her prognosis is good.

This resonates with me — from a historical perspective, it makes sense to think about Haitian suffering in terms of our sins.
