When there is no governance and no rule of law, then good meaningful structure crumbles and people suffer.

It often rains in the late afternoon or early evenings this time of the year in Haiti. And water runs down the hills of Port au Prince to the slum at the water’s edge. Where are the people? They were hiding from bullets this morning as someone was shooting from the roof of a school.

But Haitians are incredible forces of nature. And they push forward against the odds. However, this is not enough. Until meaningful structure exists in Haiti, their society will stay broken.
