Robillard--May 2021

This sweet girl had an insect dive into her right ear canal today. When I looked in her ear with my otoscope, all I could see was an eyeball looking back at me and some hairy legs.

With a certain amount of cajoling and bribing with a piece of gum, this girl laid down on the exam table, and while her mom held my otoscope light and gently pried open the ear canal so I could see, I was able to use a metal forceps to extract the intact insect. Her tympanic membrane was bloody appearing and also appeared dull and bulging. So we started this seven-year-old on an antibiotic.

And she did get her gum.
