Eleven-Year-Old Haitian Boy with Arm Tumor

This 11-year-old boy came into the Emergency Department today here in southern Haiti.

The mass on his arm started growing in August.

A biopsy reveals the tumor is a leiomyoma which is a benign soft tissue tumor.

This unfortunate boy has medical pathology that occurs all the time in "downstream Haiti" and it goes untreated. This boy had his arm amputated just below his shoulder for a BENIGN tumor that could have easily been removed when the mass was small.

There can be no peace in Haiti without justice. And this little boy is not seeing justice.
