You Know You Are Getting Better From Cholera When….December 2011

You know you are getting better from cholera when you decide to try and eat your IV tubing.

This two and one-half-year-old boy was brought to the Cholera Treatment Unit in Robillard several days ago by his grandmother. He had the signs and symptoms of acute cholera. He is getting better and was playful this afternoon.

But he screams bloody murder when his grandmother leaves the cot to try and get him a little food to eat. She has no money, so she frequently comes back with nothing, which does not please him.

Both of his parents were killed in the Haitian earthquake on January 12, 2010.
